Learn what sets G&T Beef apart from the rest of the herd. And then taste the difference.

All G&T Farm cows are "grass-fed AND grass-finished"

  • In other words, our cows never eat anything, throughout their entire lives, other than the nutrient-rich grasses that grow naturally right in the rolling hills and verdant pasturelands of Central New York.
  • Every tender, mouth-watering and nutritious cut of G&T beef comes from cows that are bred, born, and raised on our farm in Richfield Springs, NY and “finished” in our 100% owned and operated USDA processing facility.
  • Our cattle were individually selected for genetic, physical and performance characteristics from best-of-breed herds in Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Arkansas, Mexico, and New Zealand.
  • We actively maintain a rigorous selection process and breeding program that maintains a herd of cows with unique genetics and phenotypes that are ideally suited to thrive on an all-grass diet in our environment.
  • We rotate herds on foot and horseback, based on what the soil and cows tell us.
  • Our cows naturally fertilize the soil through a carefully managed rotational grazing program. We don’t need or use fertilizers or pesticides.
  • Colonies of honey bees from our own hives naturally pollinate the pastures.
  • Bluebird boxes and free-range chickens are in the pastures with the cattle to keep the fly population at a minimum and enhance biodiversity and soil fertility.

The quality, consistency, taste, and nutritional value of “grass-fed beef” varies dramatically.

For inspiration and guidance we’ve drawn from 150 year old traditional farming practices. To build our herd, we hired top U.S, based and international grass-fed cattle consultants to help us select best-of-breed Red Angus, Devon and Hereford genetics from Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Arkansas, Texas, Mexico and New Zealand. We used these best-of-breed animals to create a herd of cows with the genetics and physical characteristics that result in consistently high-quality, nutrient-rich, "grass-fed and finished beef" -- that is naturally delicious!

The mothers of our calves all produce a very high butterfat milk to nurse their young and we let the calves naturally wean after 10 months. This allows each calf’s digestive system to fully develop, promoting the animal’s natural ability to develop good marbling, which results in consistently tender, flavorful and nutritious grass fed beef.

A high percentage of the “grass-fed beef” you see on supermarket shelves and restaurant menus does indeed come from cows that are grass-fed for much of their lives, but most of these animals are then fed corn and other grains in feedlots toward the end of their lives to add weight and produce fat and marbling. This “grain finishing” is an unnatural process and the fat and marbling created by this practice lacks the natural composition and nutritional value of G&T Farm’s 100% "grass-fed AND grass-finished" beef.

A significant percentage of the beef U.S customers see advertised as grass-fed is the product of “aggregators.”  These are middle men who buy grass-fed cows and beef from many different sources and then sell that beef to consumers. Much of this beef is imported from New Zealand, Australia, Uruguay and Argentina.

Unlike the product these aggregators are able to offer, all our beef comes from a single U.S. source -- G&T Farm, in Richfield Springs, NY.
