G&T Farm was founded in 2009 by brothers-in-law Leigh Goehring and Doug Thompson. Situated in the Town of Warren, near Richfield Springs, NY, the farm is the culmination of their vision to produce the best tasting, nutrient rich, health-giving, clean fat 100% grass finished beef using regenerative methods.

Leigh’s knowledge of global agriculture and food supply and his passion for gardening inspired his investment in a more natural and sustainable process of raising cattle. The beautiful farmland that Leigh and his wife, Sandy, fell in love with during their Hamilton and Colgate college years was beckoning their return.

In 2009, we acquired our first parcel of land in the Town of Warren, Richfield Springs, New York. The unique soil here, known as honeoye (pronounced “honey-oy”), and the abundant natural spring water supply allow for diverse grasses with healthy root structures to flourish across our rolling hills and pastures. This soil composition, with high levels of calcium and other minerals, and an abundance of sunshine and rainfall combine to satisfy the cows’ dietary requirements and provide excellent conditions for producing superior 100% grass-finished beef.

Doug’s role was to bring the vision to life. He and his exceptional staff, with support from industry experts and fellow producers, follow 150 year-old nature-based farming practices to optimize and sustain the health of the animals, land, and community. Most of our employees and their families live in our farm houses among the animals they care for, so no day is rote. The cows receive our full attention to ensure the best possible quality of life. The result of this highest a standard of practice is superior quality, delicious and nutritious beef for you.

The end result is a blend of vision and practice that reflects the highest care and attention to detail of our land, our animals, our employees, and our community. No detail has been overlooked in the pursuit of creating and maintaining the highest production standards to produce a gourmet quality product.

The 2017 purchase of our own local USDA-certified abattoir fulfills our original vision to deliver our beef to you, our customers. So now, every tender, mouth-watering and nutritious cut of G&T Beef comes from cows that are bred, born, and raised and finished on our farm and prepared and shipped by our butchers.

We are proud to welcome you to our G&T community.
